[Image Description: Background is several triangles in a circle like a pie alternating from true red, scarlet and black. A robin is sitting on his perch looking to the right.
Top Text: “ SUDDENLY BECOMES SUPER CROWDED AND ASSIGNED TO WALK THE FLOOR.” ”
Bottom Text: “BECOME SPIDERMAN” ”]I work in a giftshop, and while walking the floor today when a school group was shopping I realized how flexible and elegant I become when it is really busy. I do all these weird moves in attempt to not bump into a customer or to get around them to put something away. The minute the crowd clears though I’m back to tripping over the carpet. It kinda makes me feel like Spider-Man. Next thing I know I’ll be shooting webs and climbing the walls.

For the fallen,
For the forgotten,
For the memories of the survivors,
For the survivors of the memories,
For those who fought,
For those who are fighting,
For those who lost,
For those who returned,
For the ones who had to,
For the ones who didn’t have to but did,
For the ones who want to,
I salute you.

I know that this is a day early, but since I will be out all day tomorrow, I wanted to pay homage to Memorial Day as soon as I could.
Since Ronnie died, I’ve had a love/hate relationship with Memorial Day. It was the one time a year, those of us who have lost loved ones to War, could band together and take comfort in how many strong we are. However, it serves as another reminder of Ronnie’s passing (as if we needed another) and life’s mortality.
We take the time tomorrow, to honor those who have fought and died for us; who have made the ultimate sacrifice for those they love, and those they will never know. This is the second Memorial Day that I’ve stopped and truly thanked Ronnie, his brother at arms; the brave men and women who had gone before him and the brave men and women who have come after him, and will no doubt, come after that.
I will honor the sweet boy, who became the strong man; who was brother and friend and an ultimate confidant in my life. I will spend my days paying homage to a life that was never truly able to start… Not just on holidays like tomorrow, but with every breath that I take, for as long as I live.
Thank you for your service, Ronnie Pallares; thank you to the countless men and women who have faced the same fate, who have been loved and mourned and celebrated. Thank you for your bravery, your dedication, and your love.
RIP: RJP, 10/28/90-10/23/10.
